Following advertisement prior to Christmas, the Seafood CRC, in conjunction with the ACPF, has appointed Dr Rob van Barneveld to conduct a short term consultancy with the following objectives:
1. Liaise with leaders of the major prawn fisheries throughout Australia to explain the role of the Seafood CRC and the ACPF.
2. Identify prawn industry companies and people willing to commit their own resources, in conjunction with the Seafood CRC, to research and market development projects aimed at achieving the outcomes of the ACPF strategic plan.
3. Work with R&D agencies in the Seafood CRC to prepare summaries of potential R&D and market development projects to suit.
4. Present these potential projects to a consultation meeting of prawn industry representatives and researchers in March 2009 to decide on the priority projects to be recommended to the Seafood CRC for funding.
5. Assist the existing ACPF directors establish a new Constitution that broadens membership of the ACPF, in time for an election of new Directors at a meeting to coincide with the meeting described in (4) above.
Rob will begin his consultations very soon and the purpose of this notice is to advise you that he may contact you for that purpose.

Workshop on 25 and 26 March
A workshop will held at the end of the consultancy, to review findings and make final decisions about research and market development, priorities as described in (4) above.
The workshop will be held in Brisbane and will begin on the evening of 25 March and conclude at 5.00pm 26 March. Attendance at the workshop will be limited to those directly involved in the consultation. The Seafood CRC will pay the cost of seafood CRC member organisations to attend the workshop. More information about the workshop will be circulated closer to the date.
